Secondary Control and Minutes Reserve

The task of secondary control is mutual replacement of the primary control, which is used in the European interconnected grid, after a breakdown as is suited for the cause in order to initiate a capacity adjustment after no longer than 30 seconds and to ensure a capacity balance in the control area, specifically for short-term load fluctuations, through the adjustment.

Minutes reserve is used to replace the requested secondary control on the one hand, but can also be used as a supplement to the available secondary control to cover the failure of technical units in the control area within 15 minutes.

Secondary Control Demand of the Grid Control Cooperation

The secondary control power demand of the four German TSOs serves as an input to the grid control cooperation (abbreviated as "NRV" in German). It reflects the currently required secondary control power use again, which is then activated via the load-frequency controllers of the four German TSOs. In contrast to the calculated secondary control power set points by the load-frequency controllers the secondary control power demand is unlimited and ascertained without a ramp.

The secondary control power demand of the four German TSOs is available in the temporal resolution four seconds to download. The extraction of the data from the operational systems is currently carried out in the monthly period split. This are unaudited data from the operational measurement.

The data on the demand of secondary control reserve of the grid control cooperation has been published since July 2018 on the common platform of the German transmission system operator regelleistung.net. The historical data until June 2018 can be found on this page in the Downloads.

Frequency

The published frequency is measured at operational means and is available if this equipment operate. The frequency is in the temporal resolution of one second for download. The extraction of the data from the operational systems is currently carried out in the monthly period split

This are unaudited data from the operational measurement.

Grid frequency data can be found from July 2022 on netztransparenz.de. The archived past values are still available on this page.
