What is special about ‘Adequacy 2050’?

The energy transition is progressing, but is the system prepared for difficult years ahead? Our new study, Adequacy 2050, examines whether the planned electricity grids and generation capacities will be sufficient under real stress conditions: extreme weather, fluctuating renewable energy generation and limited flexibility. Using a new model approach, we simulate what is really needed to ensure security of supply in 2045 and beyond.

TransnetBW GmbH operates the electricity transmission grid in Baden-Württemberg. In doing so, we secure the electricity supply in the region, Germany and Europe. Our clients and partners include many electricity traders and also power plant and distribution system operators in Germany and abroad.
