Bachelor’s and master’s students
Got an exciting topic relating the world of ultra-high-voltage DC transmission or the energy industry? Why not write your bachelor’s or master’s thesis at TransnetBW. You will get a mentor who will provide you with professional and methodological support. Ideally, the topic will be covered by a previous working student position or as part of an internship.

Working students
At TransnetBW you have the opportunity to apply your knowledge while you are studying and get practical experience for up to 20 hours a week during term time, as well as full-time outside of term time such as during semester breaks.

You can find all vacancies for working students in our Careers section.

Field visits
University groups can go on field visits to our main control centre in Wendlingen or one of our transformer stations. The programme is aimed specifically at groups in advanced semesters with a focus on electrical engineering, energy technology, the energy industry or related subjects.

Mandatory internship
If you are an enrolled student with a background in the energy industry, business administration or engineering with a focus on HVDC transmission, renewables or electrical engineering, you can complete a three- to six-month mandatory internship (depending on the relevant study and examination regulations) with us. You will be supervised by a mentor in a department that is suited to your main area of study, take on tasks independently in real-life projects and get an exciting insight into the working world of a transmission system operator.

As a working student, I became familiarised with my department’s full range of responsibilities and got involved in exciting topics. Thanks to the experience I gained, I am now very well prepared to start my career at TransnetBW.
